1220 Blair Mill Road, Penthouse 4
For This Week’s Find we go just over the DC-Maryland border to Silver Spring to check out a palatial 2,500-square-foot (inside) penthouse in the Mica that was originally designed for the building’s owner.
It’s easy to like any condo that is so large and sits at the top of a building, but this one stands out for two reasons: the cool artist’s studio and the sprawling outdoor space. You can see the former below, where the current owner has setup a true, working studio in a space that has concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and french doors separating it from the adjacent room.
As for the latter, there is a wraparound 1,700-square-foot terrace, which is itself twice the size of some of the two-bedrooms we feature on UrbanTurf. The views are so wide and unobstructed that you can see the curvature of the Earth. Being right next to Rock Creek Park, hawks have been known to alight on the terrace railings. Within the unit, floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides let in tons of natural light but, we’re told, still manage to keep sound out.
