Sales are now underway for The Collection at R Street: a rare residential enclave of 21 elegant condominiums and rowhomes on a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of Shaw.
As The Collection’s nine rowhomes have delivered—with the condominium residences coming next spring—the property is offering a special opportunity to be among the first to tour the residences at a November 30th open house celebration. Attendees will enjoy a wine tasting with Grand Cata, light bites, exclusive discounts and more from local Shaw businesses. The event will take place at 424 R Street NW, Unit B, from 4pm to 6pm, and prospective buyers can RSVP to admin@carolynhomes.com.
The Collection at R Street was designed by Teass Warren Architects and is a collaboration between R Street Development and Fred Schnider Investment Group. The new development incorporates new, ground-up residences with the renovation of a former schoolhouse to offer some of the largest and most unique floorplans in the area.
The schoolhouse—a historic mid-19th century landmark and the former, longtime headquarters of non-profit Africare—serves as the centerpiece of The Collection and is reworked into twelve oversized residences ranging from 1,200 to 2,300 square feet. The floorplans range from two bedrooms and two baths to two-level penthouse units with two bedrooms, 2.5 baths and dens.
While most of the schoolhouse condos feature 13-foot ceilings, the penthouse residences also have lofted two-story living spaces with 30-foot ceilings and beautiful, historic windows. Most of the units feature private outdoor space or private rooftop terraces. The building also has a two-story lobby with a dramatic interior bridge that crosses the lobby for resident access.
Surrounding the renovated schoolhouse are a variety of brand-new multi-level condos and townhomes. The condos live like townhomes in every way, with four levels, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and dens. They feature private outdoor space, including decks, hardscape terraces and/or two-tiered rooftops, while select residences also feature a rare amenity for new developments in the city: oversized backyards.
In addition to townhouses and condos, The Collection also offers one single-family rowhome measuring at 3,500 square feet. The home boasts four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths spread over four levels.
The Collection at R Street is located on R Street NW (map), between 5th Street and New Jersey Avenue, in the heart of Shaw while close to Bloomingdale, U Street and Logan Circle. Neighborhood spots include Dacha Beer Garden, Compass Coffee, BKK Cookshop, Zepplin, Big Bear Café, Right Proper Brewing Company and many more. The property is also located just a few blocks from the Shaw-Howard University Metro station and Giant Food.
Pricing for The Collection at R Street range from $800,000 to $2.5M. For more information or to learn about the property's rate buydowns, please visit The Collection at R Street here or contact the sales office at 301-873-5600.
