In a new feature on UrbanTurf this week, we take a look at properties that we have written about where the asking price has been reduced.
Deal of the Week: The Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover Edition
Back in September, we featured a three-bedroom rambler in Takoma Park as a Deal of the Week (click here for listing). We remarked that the exterior was not all that impressive, but that the interior had a bright living room and two large bedrooms, and a third that was probably best suited for a young child. Despite christening it as a bargain, the listing is still on the market and the price has dropped about $30,000 since it was listed. More details below.
- Address: 6312 Westmoreland Avenue, Takoma Park, MD (map)
- Original Price: $319,000
- Current Price: $289,900
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: One
Michigan Park Two-Bedroom for a DC Physician
In our last DC Buyer feature way back in August 2010, we were on the hunt for a suitable home for Nioke, a 32 year-old physician who rented in Mount Vernon Triangle and was interested in finding a reasonably-priced two-bedroom property in the city. Among the options that we provided for Nioke was a two-bedroom duplex in Michigan Park (click here for the listing) that had been fully renovated and had hardwood floors, a rear deck and small yard, and a large finished basement. Originally priced at $379,000, the home has undergone a couple of price reductions since it was listed, including a substantial drop of over $60,000 about a week ago. More details below.
- Address: 739 Faraday Place NE (map)
- Original Price: $379,000
- Current Price: $294,000
- Bedrooms: Two
- Bathrooms: One
Not Your Typical Georgetown Townhouse
The price on a Georgetown townhome that we featured back in October has dropped to $1.795 million from an original asking price of over $2 million. The three-bedroom double-wide listing in the East Village (for the full listing, click here) has a modern-designed interior compared with its more traditional neighbors. The feature we liked most about the property when we visited was a terraced garden that is about twice as deep as the home itself. More details below.
- Address: 1510 26th Street NW (map)
- Original Price: $2,150,000
- Current Price: $1,795,000
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: Two
