In Price Cutter this week, we highlight recent price reductions at a five-bedroom Georgian-style home in Mount Pleasant, and Hubert Humphrey’s former Southwest home.
1909 Five-Bedroom Georgian-Style Home in Mount Pleasant

We featured this five-bedroom home on Lamont Street in Mount Pleasant for our What $850K Buys You feature a couple weeks ago, but given a recent $50,000 price reduction, the Georgian-style home no longer fits the price point for that post. Like many homes in the neighborhood that have not been gut-renovated, the listing still has many of its original architectural details. The house also has a large set of bay windows in the living room, a cool looking kitchen (see photo above), a large master suite on the third floor and two porches off the back of the property.
- Full Listing: 1702 Lamont Street NW (map)
- Original Price: $849,000
- Current Price: $799,000
- Bedrooms: Five
- Bathrooms: Two
- Square Footage: 2,755
Hubert Humphrey’s Former Southwest Home

Around President’s Day, the former Southwest home of Hubert Humphrey (vice president under Lyndon Johnson and Democratic nominee in an eventful 1968 presidential race) hit the market. The three-bedroom co-op at Harbour Square, a 45 year-old, 440-unit complex that overlooks the Potomac River covers 2,330 square feet, and has a number of balconies that offer views in three different directions. The building has round-the-clock security, on-site management and maintenance, a library, a pool, and a fitness center. In addition to Humphrey, it has also been home to Supreme Court Justices Lewis Powell and David Souter, and Admiral William Radford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Eisenhower. The price was recently reduced by $70,000 for a buyer that wants to be added to this esteemed list.
- Full Listing: 550 N Street SW, Unit S-801 (map)
- Original Price: $995,000
- Current Price: $925,000
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: Three
- Square Footage: 2,332
