In Price Cutter this week, UrbanTurf highlights recent price reductions on a Forest Hills treehouse, a MacArthur Boulevard townhouse and a two-story one-bedroom in Dupont Circle.
Mid-Century Modern Forest Hills Home Built By LBJ’s Press Secretary
Since we featured this treehouse-style four-bedroom home in our What $1.2 Million Buys You feature last month, the price has dropped $50,000 to $1.1 million. The interesting historical note about the mid-century home is that it was built by President Lyndon Johnson’s press secretary back in 1967. The home is outfitted with exposed beams, private terraces and a wall of windows in the living room that look into the woods of Rock Creek Park.
- Full Listing: 2711 Jenifer Street NW (map)
- Original Price: $1.15 million
- New Price: $1.1 million
- Bedrooms: Four
- Bathrooms: Three
- Year Built: 1967
Update: This home went under contract late Thursday.
MacArthur Boulevard Three-Bedroom Townhouse with Landscaped Garden
UrbanTurf has been eyeing this property since it popped up on the market, noted first in Best New Listings in early August and then when it went under contract in early September. The contract fell through, and since then the price has been reduced by a little more than $15,000. Buyers willing to overlook a peculiar layout will enjoy a landscaped, terraced garden in the rear of the townhouse. The lower level is also outfitted with an in-law suite, with a full bathroom, kitchen and separate entrance.
- Full listing: 4833 Reservoir Road NW (map)
- Original Price: $765,000
- New Price $749,000
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: Three
- Year Built: 1939
Willard Street Two-Story One-Bedroom
Featured as our Deal of the Week in early September, this Willard Street one-bedroom stood out for its low price (by Dupont standards). It hasn’t found any buyers since then, and the price has been reduced $15,000. Spacious, at almost 900-square feet, this condo’s unusual layout offers a 25 feet by 10 feet master bedroom on the lower floor, with a living area, small kitchen and a fireplace on the upper level. Intrigued buyers should be ready for the potential frustrations that come with buying a short sale.
- Full Listing: 1731 Willard Street NW, #105 (map)
- Original Price: $334,000
- New Price: $319,000
- Bedrooms: One
- Bathrooms: Two
- Square Footage: 875
