One of Bethesda’s last gas stations is still slated for development, but what the site will become is up in the air.
Donohoe Development had previously planned a large office building for 8280 Wisconsin Avenue (map), in downtown Bethesda just south of the Medical Center Metro. But as Bethesda Now reports, the developer is changing gears and now hopes to construct a large residential building on the site.
The previously planned building was slated to have 91,600 square feet of Class A office and retail space. Now, according to Montgomery County planning records, Donohoe is requesting permission to build a 200-foot building that’s four stories higher than its neighbor. Donohoe is asking for a floor area ratio (FAR) of 8.0 for “residential development.”
