Rendering of New Project
DCmud has reported that ground has been broken on a 49-unit, 7-story residential project at 3801 Georgia Avenue NW (map). The residential property will be developed by Donatelli Development just across the street from the Petworth Metro station and Donatelli’s Park Place apartments. No indication whether the project will be condos or apartments.
Author Ken Johnson makes the astute observation that the rise of these residential and commercial projects could help develop a downtown Petworth:
“Given its proximity to Metro and retail components in the neighborhood, this could be the beginning of a more “downtown” Petworth, which has lacked a concentration of sustained retail, even along the busy Georgia Avenue corridor.”
The post notes that a CVS Pharmacy will be coming to the corner as well as a new restaurant where Billy Simpson’s House of Seafood and Steak used to be.
