Today, MRP Realty and The JBG Companies announced that construction of the first 323 residences of The Exchange at Potomac Yard is slated to start in the second quarter of 2012.
The total plans for The Exchange at Potomac Yard are extensive. The 1.9 million square-foot mixed-use project will include a town center with approximately 800,000 square feet of office and hotel space, two hotels totaling 625 rooms, 534 residences, and approximately 100,000 square feet of retail.
The new development will cover 17 acres in Potomac Yard, the sprawling 167-acre project that UrbanTurf reported on last week. The plans for Potomac Yard, bounded by Route 1 on the west, Potomac Avenue on the east and just south of Reagan National Airport (map), call for 1.8 million square feet of office space, 325,000 square feet of retail, 1,683 residential units, 300 hotel rooms, and possibly another Metro station.
