Meridian Hill Baptist Church to Become 55 to 60-Unit Condo Project: Figure 1

DCmud recently reported that the Meridian Hill Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, which has been empty since a massive fire ravaged it in 2008, will likely be converted to a 55-60 unit condo project by Bozzuto Homes. The one and two-bedroom units will range in price from “the upper-$200,000 to low-$400,000 range” and sales are expected to start in about a year.

More on the design of the project from the blog:

“Bozzuto’s Clark Wagner said ‘the project is still in the conceptual stage,’ but the current plan being presented to the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) on Thursday, the 28th, is for a 7-story addition, to the side and back of the Church, with a contemporary look that will ‘not loom above the Church.’”

At a recent ANC1D meeting that UrbanTurf attended, there was also talk of a multi-level parking garage under the project, and Martinez + Johnson Architecture, the project architect, confirmed that the church exterior would be preserved.
