A nice Memorial Day swing.
As Memorial Day approaches, we know that most of you are probably on the road to the beach. If you are still sitting in front of the computer, we leave you with a tranquil, rustic property out in Takoma Park that our friend Leah Moss over at Apartment Therapy tipped us off to.
The 2,100 square-foot, four-bedroom bungalow is the product of Beth Knox and Bill Hutchins and is as green a house as we have seen in sometime. As the Apartment Therapy post states, the home includes “a garden shed made from broken window shields, a railing sculpture crafted from salvaged steel, mosaics made up of counter-top remnants.” The attention paid to using reclaimed materials is not surprising given that Bill is the founder of the green collaborative, Helicon Works, and Beth is the landscape designer for her company, Greener than Green Gardens.
The home also includes an open space gallery where local community events such as local art openings are held, and as Leah notes her favorite feature (and probably ours as well) are the “plethora of deep window seats filled with cozy cushions and flooded with natural light” throughout the home.

Have a great Memorial Day!
