The appeal of historic townhomes is the ornamental facades, charming moldings, and unique floor plans. But they often come with a caveat: a lot of upkeep. To find a tasteful balance of historic charm and modern updates is rare. Two weeks after Kalorama Row opened its doors, eight of those nine condo units were already under contract. For the remaining residence--ready to settle immediately--tours are available by appointment (see details below). The remaining residence (unit number six) is a two-bedroom, one-bath home located on the building's second floor. It features spacious bedrooms, a walk-in closet, and large living room and dining space. Unit six is priced at $579,000 and measures 945 square feet.
Many of Kalorama Row’s interior design details—hardwood floors, cathedral ceilings and rounded windows—are the same as they were in 1921, when the townhome was originally built. And no two units are the same. Many other features and finishes, however, are completely new: carrara marble countertops with rounded edges, cutting edge tile in the baths, white cabinetry, skylights and the roof deck. A storage unit built into the building’s common space is also available for $5,000.

Kalorama Row is located on Kalorama Road, a quiet side street in Adams Morgan ranked as a “Walker’s Paradise” by WalkScore.com. Residents are close to dozens of bars and restaurants (including Jack Rose, Tryst and Cashion’s), three grocery stores (Yes, Harris Teeter and Safeway) and both buses and Metro stations (Woodley Park, Dupont Circle and U Street).
