A recently-filed application with the Zoning Commission indicates that a hotel could be coming to North Capitol Street.
The application requests a map amendment for the address at 1326 North Capitol Street NW (map) from a MU-4 zone to a MU-5-A zone, which would permit medium-density, compact mixed-use development located along arterial streets and near rapid transit stops. The purpose of the MU-5 designation is also to provide for mixed-use developments that permit a broad range of uses, including residential, office, service, and employment centers.

While the case files do not explicitly state that plans are for a hotel to be constructed on site, the application was filed by Baywood Hotels, a privately owned hotel management company that works with brands like Marriott and Hilton. There has also been talk in the neighborhood recently that a hotel is planned for this address.
UrbanTurf reached out to Baywood Hotels for additional details and will update the article as we gather more information.
