Inside Minim House, a version of which is up for grabs in an essay contest.
A local essay contest is giving applicants the chance to win a tiny house for a 350-word essay and a $100 entry fee.
The contest, which seems modeled after a similar one to win a Maine Inn, comes from Annapolis-based Sustainafest. Part of the environmentally-friendly nonprofit’s goal with the contest is to teach students about sustainability, and to that end they built a Minim House with students last summer.

Minim House
Longtime readers of UrbanTurf may remember that the original Minim House is owned by Brian Levy and on display at his MicroShowcase — formerly Boneyard Studios — in Stronghold.
Entrants of the Sustainafest contest are asked to answer the following question in 350 words or less to win the house: “What are your keys to living a sustainable lifestyle and how would owning the SustainaFest Tiny House help you realize your dream of living that lifestyle?”
The $100 entry fee presumably helps pay off the group’s expenses in building the house. In the contest rules, the group notes that, similar to the Maine Inn contest, it is seeking a minimum number of entries for the contest to be viable. If too few entries are received, the group will refund the entry fees. The contest estimates the value of the house at $76,000.
