After a temporary setback last month, Sandlot Northwest appears to be back on track to pop up in Georgetown this year.
On Thursday, the Old Georgetown Board (OGB) opted to approve the outdoor bar proposed for the former gas station site at 2715 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (map), paving the way for Suite Nation to bring its Sandlot brand to the neighborhood.

The pop-up will host food trucks, have outdoor seating and will also have a bar and restrooms retrofit out of shipping containers, a feature that OGB's members are still unenthusiastic about due to perceived incompatibility with the Georgetown Historic District, but are willing to tolerate at least through the end of the year. If Suite Nation and Eastbanc want to resume the pop-up next year, they would have to apply for OGB approval again.
In the meantime, the project needs to secure permitting and hopes to open in time for spring/summer.
