The friendly folks over at Bisnow reported this morning that construction started this week on the second phase of Yale Steam Laundry.
The second phase will be a 218-unit apartment project that will be built right next door to the 149-unit Yale Steam Laundry Condominiums just north of Mount Vernon Triangle. Bisnow reports that the expected completion date is fall 2011.

Yale Steam Laundry
About nine months ago, original construction plans were delayed for this phase of the project as private funding vanished. Thanks to HUD and DC’s strong rental market, the project got the financing needed to move forward.
Formerly one of DC’s largest steam laundries, Yale Steam Laundry is now home to some of the city’s only true lofts. The units maintain much of the building’s old industrial feel with 14 to 16-foot ceilings, over-sized windows and large open floorplans.
