$19,000 Above Asking for House with Carriage House

This turn-of-the-century Brookland house has a porch with a bench swing in front and a 700 square-foot surprise in the back. Inside, the living room has a decorative fireplace mantel, and on the other side of a wide doorway, the dining room is open to the staircase. The eat-in kitchen has an off-white tin press ceiling, checkerboard floors, and a subway tile backsplash, along with a set of built-in display shelves and a sunroom-like sitting nook with access to the rear deck. Upstairs, the owner's bedroom has french doors leading out to a sleeping porch, and the tiled-floor lower level offers a sizable rec room, a small kitchenette, a full bath, and a sleeping nook. In addition to a brick patio and space on two sides of the house, the backyard also includes a two-story, partially-finished carriage house. The property sold for $19,000 above asking.

$10,000 Above Asking in Woodridge

Two bedrooms share a bath on the main level, and upstairs, the carpeted owner's bedroom sits beneath a cove ceiling and has a seating nook with stained glass window and two built-in sets of drawers. The lower level also houses the third bedroom and a full bath and provides separate access to the backyard and two sheds. The house sold for $10,000 above asking price.
