Coldwell Banker’s New Website: The Pandora of Real Estate

National real estate brokerage Coldwell Banker launched the beta version of its new site today, and according to Inman, it is the real estate equivalent to the “build-it-yourself Internet radio station, Pandora.”
For those unfamiliar with Pandora, it is an online music source that creates a personalized Internet radio station based on a single song, album or artist entered by the user. The new Coldwell Banker site does essentially the same thing, but instead of songs it offers up properties you might be interested in.
From Inman:
Coldwell Banker’s new site can identify a user’s location as soon as they come to the site, and serve up properties in that area. Then, drawing on predictive search techniques employed by sites like Amazon.com, profiles are constructed for each visitor, allowing the site to suggest homes they might be interested in.
For the more adventurous, the new site can even dispense with searches based on a geographic area and property type altogether, attempting to divine the user’s ideal property by showing them a series of images that they can give the thumbs up or thumbs down to.
The beta version of the new site can be viewed here. The feature that sounds coolest to us is the ability to redraw boundaries in order to customize your search. So you are no longer bound to searching within Capitol Hill or Takoma Park, for example. You can easily extend your search beyond the traditional boundaries of narrowly-defined neighborhoods or areas.
