4 Barclay Avenue
An oversized bungalow in Takoma Park, MD just sold for $1.282 million, making it the highest-priced home to ever sell in the neighborhood. UrbanTurf wrote about 4 Barclay Avenue (map) as This Week’s Find back in May.
With a sunny exterior, fruit trees, and a kitchen garden, this five-bedroom was based on Pasadena’s Gamble House, which was designed to be the ultimate example of a bungalow. 4 Barclay Avenue looks a little like a bungalow on steroids, with extensive woodworking around every corner, including hand-finished doors, custom cabinetry and a wood-burning “Tulikivi” stove.
The home was listed for $1.2 million and sold for $82,504 above that figure. Listing agent Sheryl Blank-Barnes told us that it bested the previous high sale in the neighborhood by $132,504.
