A U.S. landlord will now take a different type of currency from its tenants.

Jamestown announced Wednesday that it is partnering with BitPay to accept cryptocurrency as rent payment across its United States portfolio. This program includes Jamestown's DC area properties such as Ballston Exchange, America's Square, One Metro Center and Georgetown Park.

“Blockchain technology and the digital assets it enables, like cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens, are key components to the evolution of real estate,” said Michael Phillips, President of Jamestown. “Allowing for cryptocurrency payments is part of our commitment to innovation and larger digital asset strategy to optimize and maximize our physical real estate through technology and virtual integrations.”

Jamestown will accept rent payments in the following currencies: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Litecoin.
