In this week’s Best New Listings, we take a look at a couple new listings in the DC area that were designed by architects who made their name designing homes and iconic buildings in the region.

A Mid-Century Modern Charles Goodman in Silver Spring
Charles Goodman was a 20th Century architect known for his modern residential designs in the suburbs of Washington, DC. This five-bedroom Silver Spring listing is illustrative of his style. The centerpiece of the house and likely where the eventual buyer will spend the majority of their time is the open living-dining space that has hardwood floors, a large fireplace and a wall of windows that look down on the trees outside. The finished lower level mimics the main floor, and the home also has a large back deck.

A Q Street Victorian From the Man Who Designed the Cairo
T.F Schneider designed some 2,000 homes in the DC area, but is best known for being the main architect behind The Cairo, the city’s tallest residential building. About a stone’s throw from that building is this five-bedroom Victorian that Schneider also designed. One of the more striking aspects of this home (and others that the architect designed on Q Street) is the stone exterior. However, the 3,500 square-foot interior is also pretty impressive. In addition to an elevator, a roof deck and two-car parking, the home has a massive top floor master suite (pictured above) that features one of the home’s three kitchens.
