After a two-week hiatus, Best New Listings is back for the new year with a renovated one-bedroom at The Chastleton on 16th Street and a spacious two-bedroom penthouse unit at a boutique building in Kalorama.
Renovated One-Bedroom Unit at The Chastleton

1701 16th Street NW, #530 (map)
There have been rumblings on UrbanTurf that The Chastleton has its issues (underlying mortgage, poor workmanship in the units), but this renovated one-bedroom co-op looks to be a good deal at $339K. The unit has new hardwood floors, a custom kitchen with Viking appliances, a large bedroom with double closets and an in-unit washer/dryer. The living area is also fairly large, and to sweeten the deal the owner has thrown in a free 42-inch plasma TV for the eventual buyer. For the full listing, click here.
Two-Bedroom Penthouse Unit in Kalorama

2125 S Street NW, #PH2 (map)
This two-bedroom penthouse is one of eight units at The Holton, a landmark building in Kalorama that was converted into a unique set of condos. The unit is on two levels and features vaulted ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, fireplace, hardwood floors, and a master bedroom with balcony. We were quite taken with the layout of the living and dining area on the first level, and the set of three windows that line one wall (see above). The property also comes with a garage parking space, which is a particularly valuable amenity in this neighborhood. For the full listing, click here.
