In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, we look at a Columbia Heights two-bedroom with heated bathroom tiles, a 1,304 square-foot condo in a former People’s drugstore on Capitol Hill and a five-bedroom Palisades home on the market for the first time.
Two-Bedroom Columbia Heights Unit With Programmable Heated Bathroom Tiles
This new two-bedroom listing on the first floor of a converted row house in Columbia Heights caught our eye because of the unit’s front porch and its low monthly condo fees ($192). However, the listing also has hardwood floors throughout, a small back deck off the master bedroom, and even programmable heated tiles in the bathroom for the colder winter months. The asking price also includes an assigned parking spot.

Two-Bedroom in Former People’s Drugstore on Capitol Hill
In the mid-20th century, the street level of 1018/1020 East Capitol Street NE was a People’s drugstore, where one could get a meal for 35 cents. The store was vandalized in the riots of the late 1960s, and never opened back up. Instead, the building was converted to condos by DC-based architect Robert Bell in the 1970s. The first-level listing now on the market has a spacious living room, dining room and den area with large windows and a fireplace as well as two large bedrooms. The 1,304 square-foot condo also has a private patio.

Five-Bedroom Palisades Home Hits Market For the First Time
Depending on a buyer’s interior design tastes, this five-bedroom Palisades home may need a makeover. The listing, built in 1942, sits on two adjacent lots just off MacArthur Boulevard and this is the first time it has been put up for sale. While the home has an in-ground pool and an enormous rear deck, the interior does not look as though it has been updated much since the home was originally built. That said, the listing’s location and lot size will likely make it attractive to a buyer looking for a project.
