This year, the Covid-19 pandemic upended our lives and had drastic impacts on the real estate industry, and most importantly, people's personal housing situations. With that in mind, UrbanTurf is wrapping up 2020 with an abbreviated Year-in-Review series.
For those of us who aren’t pulling in the money for a multi-million dollar house, UrbanTurf sorted through the hundreds of more reasonably-priced listings featured on the site this year to come up with our favorite. The winner: A home with a number of alluring amenities that attracted a lot of attention from buyers.
Located in Silver Spring, the seller of this mid-century modern ranch house did a complete renovation down to the foundation slab when they purchased it. Finishes in the newly-opened floorplan include a built-in industrial pipe coat rack near the entry, welded and fire-treated wooden barn doors, and fire-treated wooden beams.

The open-concept main area of the house includes a sizeable wine closet behind sliding glass doors, adjacent to a set of French doors that open out to the impressive rear patio. Just outside is the heated figure 8-shaped pool, across from a propane fire pit surrounded by concrete bench seating beside a TV with built-in outdoor speakers.
A custom concrete-topped bar separates the pool deck from a sunshade-covered patio next to a swing. There is also an outdoor shower framed in corrugated metal, accessible from the en-suite bath in the owner's bedroom. The property also features imported palm trees, stone pebbles from the Delaware River, and concrete pavers that create checkerboard pathways through the lawn areas.
Listed in October with Andres Serafini of RLAH Real Estate, the home ended up getting 11 offers before selling at a $74,445 premium above the asking price of $555,555.
