An Art Gallery in an Alley

This Saturday evening, an alley in Trinidad is being transformed into an art gallery.
Art in the Alley is an event that livens up a usually dark alley with lights, art, music and people.
“It grew out of a do-it-yourself sense of community,” Danielle Bays, one of the organizers, told UrbanTurf. “We wanted a local art show that was accessible to both artists and art-lovers and builds our neighborhood spirit.”
All of the artists are local, Bays tells us, and include photographers, poets, painters and DJs.
The alley, which is located between the 1200 blocks of Florida Ave NE and Morse Street NE (map), will be transformed with help from a micro-grant from Greater DC Cares. The first iteration was held this fall; the organizers hope to make it a regular biannual event.
