A 5,500 square foot six-bedroom home in the Palisades that was inspired by the stone lock houses found along the C&O Canal will hit the market this week, and UrbanTurf got a sneak peek inside.
Designed and built by architect/owner Carmel Greer, the interior of the home features exposed beams, marble-esque modern finishes and an abundance of over-sized windows and skylights which flood the home with natural light. The exterior is well-lit, yet unassuming.
Exterior.
The first floor of the home is set up more like a great room, with a private study at one end, an open living area in the middle and a sleek kitchen with a dining area at the other end.

A series of doors open onto a deck which runs the length of the house, overlooking a backyard with a built-in grill and heated salt-water pool.
Living room
A custom metal staircase leads up to four bedrooms and two baths on the second floor, while the master suite occupies the light-filled top level. The lower level consists of a family room and in-law suite with additional skylights and a separate entrance.
