A new missing middle project is on the boards in DC from a familiar developer.
Douglas Development recently filed plans with the city's Historic Preservation Office (HPO) for a new 9-unit apartment building at 6901 Willow Street NW (map) in DC's Takoma neighborhood.

The four-story development, designed by Eric Colbert & Associates, will be a rarity for new residential builds in the city, as it will consist entirely of three-bedroom apartments. The project also has a striking butterfly roof design, which promotes good water drainage and can be used to collect rainwater.
Add this new development to the growing list of missing middle developments being built around the region. In addition to a 22-unit development planned in Adams Morgan, the project will join a list that includes a 17-unit project in Palisades and a new townhouse development off Georgia Avenue.
