Massive redevelopment plans are in the works for Rosslyn.
Plans have been filed with Arlington County to redevelop the Ames Center at 1820 North Fort Myer Drive (map) into two residential towers that will bring almost 800 new residential units to this section of Northern Virginia.

Snell Properties would demolish the 12-story office building and then construct two towering residential buildings at the site: a 31-story tower with 424 units and a 30-story tower with 364 units. There will be 8,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level.

The existing gas station and Arlington Temple United Methodist Church at 1830 North Fort Myer Drive will remain, with the 364-unit north tower appended behind. A total of 650 vehicular and 317 bicycle parking spaces will be across three shared below-grade levels and five above-grade levels in the south tower, inserted above a double-height retail space. The ground-floor retail in both towers will front a pedestrian plaza between the buildings. The unit mix in the Shalom Baranes-designed development will span from studios to two-bedrooms with dens.
With this new project, there are now almost 3,000 new residential units on the boards for Rosslyn.
