Zipcar, the world’s biggest car-sharing company, recently launched a Facebook application, “Reserve a Zipcar,” that allows members to reserve a car without ever leaving Facebook.
By clicking “Like” and inputting their Zipcar username and password, members can also check out upcoming reservations, extend or cancel a reservation, get directions to car locations, and check car availability, All Facebook reported on Tuesday.
The application, now in it’s public beta test, joins Zipcar’s iPhone app, Android app, mobile website and phone service as one of several on-the-go opportunities to use the car-share service. The company’s decision to move forward with the application was based on surveys that found that 88 percent of Zipcar members were already on Facebook.
In addition to the functions above, the app has a couple intriguing features, including “ZipTogether,” which looks to take advantage of the social network to help members plan trips together.
