A long-planned hotel on Georgetown's main thoroughfare looks to finally be moving forward.
A planned unit development (PUD) application was recently filed with the DC Zoning Commission by Thor Equities for a 91-97 room hotel at 3000 M Street NW (map). Winstanley Architects designed the project.
It has been a seven-year journey for this site in Georgetown, with a number of different proposals pitched since 2015. Thor Equities purchased the site from SB-Urban in July of that year for $53 million and since then, everything from an 82-room hotel to a 256-room hotel to a 300-person beer garden has been pitched for the address.

The lower levels of the planned hotel will include a restaurant, conference rooms, and a spa and exercise area. There will be retail space along M Street, as well as a bar/lounge area for hotel guests on the roof.
Thor Equities anticipates receiving building permits for the hotel by December of next year. If that is the case, the hotel could be completed by the summer of 2025.
