You’ll share the downstairs laundry with your three upstairs roommates, and the listing warns that the ceilings are low.

A room in this three-bedrom H Street rowhouse at 10th and I Streets rents for $1,200, and you only have to share the place with one other roommate. (The roommate is reserving the third bedroom for guests and “occasional visits by the landlord.”) Your other housemate is a cute Boston terrier. The house is about a block away from some of the H Street Corridor’s more sought-after bars and restaurants.

A One-Bedroom Carriage House in Petworth

This funky carriage house in Petworth is one of the cooler listings for $1,100 a month in the city. It’s a good choice for someone who likes privacy but also enjoys the companionship of roommates, since the listing notes that “some common spaces will be shared with the main 5-bedroom house.” It is set up as a studio, but has high ceilings, a number of windows and an updated bathroom.
