This week, Under Contract features two popular properties from recent UrbanTurf posts that have now have gone under contract or have sales pending on them.
Deal of the Week: Proceed With Caution

When UrbanTurf originally featured this house as a Deal of the Week in early May, our advice was: proceed with caution. The Columbia Heights row home is little more than a shell in need of a complete rehab. In fact, the warning in our first post came from the listing agent who told UrbanTurf that the bank-owned property was really being sold from the photos, as the interior was not very safe for people to walk around in. No offer was allowed to be accepted until the listing was active for at least a week, and between the 8th and 12th days, only owner occupant offers were entertained. The property was under contract by the 15th day, but no word yet on who the buyer was.

Bob Woodward’s Watergate-Era Studio in Dupont Circle

Webster House
The apartment that Bob Woodward lived in during his investigation of Watergate has found a buyer. At the end of April, UrbanTurf reported that the studio that the Washington Post reporter lived in as he was investigating the Watergate scandal had hit the market for $215,000. A few days ago, we reported that the price on the Dupont Circle unit recently dropped to $200,000, and a sale was pending on the unit as of yesterday. The Webster House studio is not in quite as good a shape as when Woodward lived there (it is now a shell in need of work), so while the buyer now owns a piece of history, he/she has some work ahead of them.
