The firm is applying to build two 7-story towers with over 300 apartments above nearly 40,000 square feet of retail on the 6.4-acre site at 12th Street South and South Eads Street (map).
As planned, the East building of Pen Place would contain 171 residential units across an 86 foot-tall building with 18,641 square feet of retail and 78 parking spaces. The 84 foot-tall West building would contain 171 apartments with 20,504 square feet of retail and 73 parking spaces.
The project would also create a temporary dog park and a temporary surface parking lot with 204 spaces on what will be the future site of a second development phase. South Elm Street will be extended through the site and a public plaza with an art installation will be created between the two towers.
Arlington County is currently reviewing the application.
