This Week's Find: Modern Renovation for DC's Tesla Owners

When the current owners bought This Week’s Find in 2010, they planned out a fully-automated, contemporary and sleek vision for the Palisades three-bedroom. Over the next year and a half, the rooms were renovated, finishes were replaced and owner Bob Peterson, an admitted technophile, went about making the home very tech-oriented.

“The house is set up like a hotel,” Peterson told UrbanTurf. “All of the equipment for the TV, stereo and other electronics is located in the basement, so the rooms look clean, organized and simple.” The electronics, lighting, and climate can also be controlled through iPhones or iPads. There is also a tricked-out media room, and Peterson, who owns a Tesla, installed an electric car charging station in the garage.
Peterson’s girlfriend Taylor Deering, a designer, chose finishes that felt natural and modern, and that highlight the materials used. The floors are a wide-plank white oak with a natural finish, and the basement has a poured concrete floor with no polish or staining.

Though they haven’t been in the customized home very long, Deering and Peterson are taking off for the west coast and will put their home on the market on Thursday. More details and photos below.
