This Week's Find is a new modern house on the banks of the Potomac River in Prince George's County that was designed by KUBE Architecture for AMSB International.

"This is the last virgin and undisturbed lot that is buildable for a single-family dwelling on the Fort Washington side of the Potomac River in terms of zoning," an AMSB International spokesman said. "We took on this challenge to showcase that in 2020 an environmentally friendly and modern home can co-exist together in one of the most challenging critical areas in Prince George's County."

The ultra-modern five-bedroom, six-bathroom house will be built into the hillside and will have 70 feet of private river frontage and generous views from the basement upward. Fallen brush and trees were cleared from the acre-plus plot of land, while new vegetation was planted to maintain the topography.

The house was designed with a series of elongated spaces to evoke a pier and offer panoramic views. A series of stairs walk down the side of the house, past a swimming pool, to a private dock on the river.

Features of the home include a center garden courtyard, double-height living area, skylights, a roof deck with pool and hot tub, a basement theater, and four parking spaces. In contrast to a rear façade primarily comprised of glass, the house has a more solid appearance from the street.

KUBE expects the house to be completed next fall.
