DC is becoming the land of the singles.
A new report out today from the DC Policy Center sheds light on the group driving household growth in the city, and that group is largely young and living alone.

"In recent years, the District has lost population but gained households," the report stated. "This growth has been largely driven by singles living by themselves. By 2021, single-person households constituted 48 percent of all households in DC, up from 42 percent in 2015."
As single households have risen in recent years, there has been little or no growth in family households and group houses.
"Family households are only up by 2.5 percent since 2015 (with all this growth happening since 2019), and the number of nonfamily households with multiple members (such as roommates or unmarried couples) has declined."
