The Priciest Home on the Market in DC Isn't Really a Home

DC's priciest new home on the market isn't currently being used for residential use.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Jewett House, a Georgian Revival property at 2040 S Street NW (map), has hit the market for $14.5 million with Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.
The Jewett House was originally constructed as a ten-bedroom home, but since the early 1990s it has served as the headquarters of the Bauman Foundation. The foundation has now moved to New York City, so the property is vacant.

Listing the former foundation headquarters as a single-family home was not always the plan for this property. The Bauman Foundation filed a historic preservation concept application to convert it into a nine-unit residential development back in March.
So who does John Landrum Bryant, vice president of the Bauman Foundation, think that the home would be a good fit for? Naturally, one name comes to mind.
“This house would be a perfect one for Bezos,” he told The Wall Street Journal.
