Those in the market for a sofa bed should consider this: throughout the month of September, Urban Essentials—a 14th Street-based purveyor of top-of-the-line home goods—is running a sale on their best seller, the Comfort Sleeper. The sale runs for one month only as American Leather, the creators of Comfort Sleeper, allow discounts on the best seller just one month out of every year.
Comfort Sleeper was voted “Best Value” by Consumer Digest and has a clean, modern design that opens with ease and doesn’t include bars or springs, thus eliminating three of the top sofa bed complaints. Its mattresses are also considerably longer than typical sofa beds, measuring at a full 80 inches. The Comfort Sleeper is custom made in Texas, and buyers can choose from 400 fabrics (including Ultrasuede and Crypton) or from 85 leather options, all top grain from Italy, Scandinavia and Argentina. Check out a video about how the Comfort Sleeper works, here.
“This is one of the only products we sell that customers continually ask for by name. It’s extremely popular,” says Urban Essentials’ owner David Schaefer.
Only 35 days of lead-time is necessary for delivery. The Comfort Sleeper is available in 14 styles and in sizes from king to cot, and can come with one of three mattress options: Tempur-Pedic®, Gel (soft) or Premier (firm).
Schaefer first opened Urban Essentials on 14th and U Streets in 2000, then moved the showroom to 14th Street and Rhode Island Avenue two years ago. The store cultivates high-end products from around the world and all over the United States. Among them are furniture, accessories, gifts, lighting (including more than 30 chandeliers—just look up), rugs, fans, and window treatments totaling more than 50 manufacturers, including Rowe Furniture, Bontempi Casa, Younger Furniture, Copeland Furniture and Caracole.
The annual sale on the Comfort Sleeper started yesterday and will last only until the end of September. Visit the Urban Essentials showroom online at their newly launched website, here. Or, for an in-person look at the sleep sofa, visit Urban Essentials at 1401 14th Street NW (map). The shop is open Monday through Friday from noon to 8:00pm, on Saturdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and on Sundays from noon to 6:00pm. Urban Essentials can be reached by phone at 202-299-0640.
