Rental rates are often broken down by apartment size, but a new report gets a bit more granular.
The rental platform Bungalow that bills itself as a "resource for roommate sharing" has a new report out this week that breaks down the average rental costs of individual rooms across DC.
"Shared living of all kinds has risen quickly in popularity over the past several years, and continues to do so at unprecedented rates, making rental data at the room level more valuable than ever before," the report stated.

Below, UrbanTurf looked at a handful of zip codes to give a sense of how much room rates are going for around the city.

The 20036 zip code, which encompasses the area between Dupont Circle and K Street, has far and away the most expensive room rental rates in the city at nearly $1,450 a month. Coming in second is the zip code that runs from Columbia Heights to Logan Circle with a room rental rate approaching $1,200 a month. Also in the $1,000+ rate category are the Capitol Hill/NoMa/H Street zip codes of 20001 and 20003.
To determine average room rent prices, Bungalow analyzed Q3 2022 data from Bungalow listings across the U.S. Prices are based on the average price for that respective quarter as a whole.
