Apple is looking to give Tesla a run for their money in a few years.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the tech behemoth is working on an electric car that could be finalized by 2019.
The car will require a driver, though. From the WSJ:
Apple has hired experts in driverless cars, but the people familiar with Apple’s plans said the Cupertino, Calif., company doesn’t currently plan to make its first electric vehicle fully autonomous. That capability is part of the product’s long-term plans, the people familiar with the matter said.
The Journal is reporting that Apple expects the “ship date” to be in 2019, which does not necessarily mean that the car will be ready for consumers by then. The news from Apple comes about a week after Porsche unveiled its first electric car prototype in Germany.
