Renderings Revealed for 141-Unit Development at Inn of Rosslyn Site

A 141-unit development is moving forward for one of the oldest motel sites in Rosslyn, and new renderings provide a good sense of what the development will look like. 

Monument Realty has plans to redevelop the former Inn of Rosslyn site at 1601 Fairfax Drive (map) into an eight-story, 141-unit residential project. The building, designed by DCS Design, will have an underground parking garage with 87 spaces, but no retail.

The Inn of Rosslyn, formerly know at Motel 50, closed in January 2021 after a sixty year run. To pay homage to the building's former life, the new development will draw from the architecture of the former motel. 

"The proposed building design is partly influenced by the existing distinctive bold '50' sign of the Inn of Rosslyn," according to documents filed with Arlington County. "The main building facade facing Fairfax Drive and Route 50 mimics the '50' sign with two portions forming strong planes which cantilever over the building edges similar to how the '50' sign cantilevers over the edge of the motel building."
