REI is the latest retailer to sign on at Pike & Rose, according to blogger Robert Dyer.
The large outdoor goods retailer will join dozens of stores in the second phase of the massive redevelopment at Rockville Pike and Montrose Parkway in Montgomery County (map). The new store will sit on Rose Avenue, a street that will be constructed with the new development, and spread out over 36,000 square feet.

The second phase of Pike & Rose includes plans for 30 stores, 264 apartments and 104 condominiums. The anticipated completion date for this phase is 2017.
UrbanTurf reported last year that REI is also opening a store in the redeveloped Uline Arena. It will anchor the new building’s entire ground floor and will differ from its suburban counterparts and be more like the urban stores seen in Seattle and Denver.
