In DC, listings will now display the zone name, the zone type and the zone code for the address, and it will also tell you the types of structures (single-family, multi-family, accessory-dwelling units) that are allowed.
"In addition to determining what property types and density are allowed in a neighborhood, zoning and land-use laws dictate whether you can do things like build an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in your backyard, run a business out of your garage, have farm animals, or list your home as a vacation rental," a Redfins statement read. "These laws and regulations can be difficult to learn about, since relevant information is often buried on government websites or in complex local zoning codes."
