Last week, the Prince George's County Planning Board voted to conditionally approve a site plan which would deliver a multifamily community ("Motiva") a little over a half-mile from Greenbelt Metro station. Here is a closer look at what is planned.
The NRP Group has proposed a pair of five-story buildings with a total of 354 residential units on the 16-acre site at Cherrywood Lane between Kenilworth Avenue and I-495 (map). The unit mix will span studios to three-bedrooms, and some ground-floor units will have patios/stoops and direct entry.
A separate amenity building will include fitness centers, a business center, and an outdoor pool. The community will also include a dog park and pet spa, open space and a tot lot, as well as 136 bicycle parking spaces, six electric vehicle charging stations (with the option to add more based on demand) and a Capital Bikeshare station. Dwell Design Studio is the architect.
The Greenbelt City Council voted to conditionally approve the site plan last month, with requested revision of the landscaping to obscure visibility of units from Cherrywood Lane, and for the applicant to explore adding public art near the bikeshare station and solar panels atop the amenity building. Those conditions were included in the Planning Board approval.
