Plans have been submitted to DC for a residential project in a neighborhood not known for new multi-family development.
Rishi Bhatnagar has filed plans with DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) for a 19-unit apartment project on the triangular site at 4885 MacArthur Boulevard NW (map), one of the main retail strips in DC's Palisades neighborhood. The proposed apartments would be constructed above retailers Black Coffee, Café Vino and Dodge Chrome.

The new project, designed by Teass\Warren Architects, would consist of one- and two-bedroom apartments. The developer is going before the BZA to get relief from the loading and set back requirements for the address.
The initial design plan for the building eliminated all parking, but following conversations with the community, the developer has added parking back in. The development will include a total of ten spaces, including six on the second floor, two of which are reserved as car share spaces.
A date for the project to go before the BZA has not been set yet.
