In the past 48 hours, there have been a number of reports about new residential projects and retail coming to the stretch of 14th Street between R and W Street.
- Borderstan recently reported that Ellisdale Construction will begin construction on a 31-unit condominium project at the corner of 14th and R Streets around May 15th. Speculation is that the developer is Habte Sequar, whose past projects include The Josephine at 440 Rhode Island Avenue NW and Renaissance @ Logan at 1618 11th Street NW.
- The Washington Business Journal is reporting that JBG is moving ahead (subscription required) with a large-scale apartment project just south of U Street.
- U Street Girl announced that Smucker Farms, “a farm to market store”, hopes to open at 2118 14th Street NW before the end of April. The store will offer “grass fed beef, free range poultry and eggs, heirloom pork, European style cheeses, butters, and yogurts, and, of course, an abundance of organic leafy greens, root vegetables, and fruit.”
