Monument Realty has plans on the boards for a new residential project in a section of DC that hasn't seen much new development over the past few decades.
The developer outlined plans to ANC 2C on Tuesday night for a new 11-story, 72-unit residential development at 613-617 H Street NW (map) in Chinatown. The address was formerly home to Ming's Restaurant, but has been vacant for years. DCS Design is the architect.

The new development will preserve the existing building at the address while building a new structure around it. It will connect below grade to a 160-unit development that Monument has in the works on I Street NW.
The development team initially submitted plans for a new office building at this address to DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) in 2017, but has now switched gears to residential. They will submit new plans to the city in the coming days.
