It will be a little easier for some Metro commuters to pick up their groceries starting this week.
The Washington Post reports that a partnership between Metro and Giant Food’s delivery service Peapod will launch on Wednesday in which Metro riders can order groceries online and then pick them up as they exit certain stations.

From the Post:
To use the service, Metro riders will place and pay for their order through Peapod’s online service with pickup options of 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Peapod will deliver the orders to pods at each station. An on-site attendant will distribute the groceries to customers. No money will change hands and no food will be stored overnight.
The service will initially be available at the Fort Totten, Glenmont and Vienna stations, and run for six months. If the trial run is successful, the service could be expanded to other stations.
