One of Georgetown's priciest homes has sold.
The 9,000 square-foot mid-century mansion on R Street NW that was once owned by Hope Diamond-owner Evalyn Walsh McLean closed on Halloween for $9.75 million. The home went under contract in August at a list price of $10.8 million. Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby's International Realty represented the seller and Mark McFadden of Compass represented the buyer.

The sellers of the home were art patrons and curated an interesting collection on the grounds. The living room has a floor-to-ceiling grid of windows that open to the terrace that houses a pool with paper cup-shaped fountain. Next to another floor-to-ceiling window grid on the other side of the living room, a door leads out to a sculpture garden.
The owner's suite spans half the second level with a terrace framing all three sides, its bath on the other side of a partition along with a dressing room with built-ins and a walk-in closet. The two-car garage has interior access to the ground floor, which includes two bedroom suites.
