Continuing with their commitment to building homes in walkable urban neighborhoods, EYA has announced that Chancellor’s Row, their new community of 237 town homes near the Brookland Metro station (map), will begin sales in spring 2010.
Chancellor’s Row will be constructed on a 10-acre parcel of land adjacent to the St. Paul Seminary off Michigan Avenue, with the homes built around some of the existing seminary buildings. Residents will not only be able to walk to the Brookland Metro Station, but also to the shops and restaurants in the Brookland neighborhood such as Colonel Brook’s Tavern and Island Jim’s Crab Shack and Tiki Bar.
“We are incredibly excited for the opening of this new neighborhood,” Jack Lester, Vice President of EYA told UrbanTurf. “Nowhere else in the District can you find such beautiful open space and unique architecture, and it’s all within walking distance to Metro and eclectic local shops.”
The four-level row houses will range in size from 1,400 to 2,100 square feet, and start in the upper $400,000s. The floorplans will include an entry on the lower level with garage parking and a foyer, a main level with a kitchen, dining area and living area, a bedroom level and a loft level with a rooftop terrace. The interior features are anticipated to include hardwood flooring, maple cabinets and granite counters, elements which today’s homebuyers expect. Some unexpected features (all optional) will include indoor/outdoor fireplaces and wet bars on the loft level.
All the homes will include Energy Star labeling and LEED for Homes certification, and every garage will be outfitted with an electric car charger.
The opening of the Chancellor’s Row sales office in spring 2010 will coincide with the beginning of land development activities. “Vertical” construction is expected to begin in November 2010, and the first homes should be move-in ready by approximately April 2011.
