DC Most Popular Place to Move for 7th Straight Year: Figure 1

If you think that DC has become a popular place to live in recent years, here is some data to back that up that assertion.

For the 7th year in a row, DC had the highest percentage of inbound moves in the country in 2012, according to an annual report conducted by Atlas Van Lines. The report, released on January 1, has been published by the moving company each year since 1993 to track interstate moving patterns in the U.S.

From the report:

The highest number of moves occurred in California, Texas and Florida. California comes in at the top with nearly 13,000 moves in 2012. For the seventh consecutive year, Washington D.C. had the highest percentage of inbound moves, with 63 percent of all moves being inbound. Nebraska and New York beat out Ohio for the highest percentage of outbound moves, with outbound moves accounting for 58 percent of each state’s total.
